“My favourite part of the wedding day was walking down the aisle towards my husband to be, with my three best friends in the world and my cute little nephew who was our ring bearer ahead of me and my Mum at my side.”
The couple: Angela Claire Jackson & Mark Douglas Bryant
Length of engagement: 1 Year | Wedding date: 6th February 2015
Wedding venue: Magnolia, Al Qasr
Photographer: Rebecca Hobday
We met… At Yalumba brunch! It was our mutual friend Ella’s leaving party – Mark and I got chatting during the brunch, he drew me a map of Australia using chocolate sauce and a napkin to show me where he was from then he bit me and left! Afterwards he found me on Facebook and asked me out for a drink as way of an apology! It was one of the funniest emails I have ever received so eventually I said yes. The rest is history!
My dress… was AMAZING. I designed it myself with Salam from Elizabeth Di Naya in Jumeriah and had it finished off with hand stitched swarkovski crystals and pearls to fit in with the sparkle theme!
Our ceremony… We had a very intimate wedding ceremony at Magnolia in Al Qasr. Pastor Graham Thomas from the Dubai Fellowship married us and it was a beautifully, intimate ceremony full of love and smiles!
His suit… was a gorgeous dark blue colour and was tailor made by Deepas in Satwa.
We chose our photographer because… Rebecca Hobday’s portfolio is simply stunning and it is hard not to be impressed with that alone. However, once we met her in person the deal was sealed. Rebecca is professional and creative but also organised and confident. Rebecca had everything covered from the off set – she knew exactly what time the sun would set on the day, she had a timed agenda and list of essential shots etc etc. All this to an organisational freak like me is gold!
My favourite part of the wedding day… Walking down the aisle towards my husband-to-be, with my three best friends in the world and my cute little nephew who was our ring bearer ahead of me and my Mum at my side. Then saying the most important vows of my life to Mark.
Our wedding theme/colours… were sparkle and glitter and the bridesmaids were in blush with silver accessories.
We chose our venue because… it is simply perfect. Magnolia at Al Qasr ticked all of our boxes. I wanted pictures with the Burj Al Arab in the background as it is one of my favourite icons of the place we met and fell in love.
My piece of advice for other brides… start organising as early as possible as I started a year in advance and was still super stressed the week before. Take a moment to stand and look at everything and everyone around you and enjoy the uniqueness of having all those you love most dearly in one place together. Oh and make sure you eat something!!! Thank goodness I had a big breakfast as I didn’t eat anything for the rest of the day.
