How To Use Pantone Colour of The Year 2015 Marsala in Your Wedding Palette

Pantone has announced Marsala, (which is the sister of wine or burgundy hues), as its Colour of 2015. We have already become huge fans of this colour and are predicting guests will be seeing a lot of it in 2015 spring and autumn weddings. For those of you wondering how to use this incredibly magical and earthy shade in your wedding palette, we have several ideas for you…

What is Marsala?

Marsala (we love the name!) as we mentioned before, is a rich, vibrant, coppery colour that is in between wine and plum. It is best described as being ‘redder than chocolate’ but ‘browner than burgundy’. According to the colour experts at Pantone®, Marsala can be combined with pink, grey, blue, white, gold and even green for weddings.

How to use Marsala in your 2015 wedding?

We recommend using soft, pastel shades with this beautiful colour. If you find it too dull, you could always add a pop of green to it – particularly to the décor.

Marsala is ideal for brides and grooms’ wedding wear. Check out the tie and cufflinks in Marsala –with a pop of gold, these accessories scream ‘sexy and elegant’. For wedding cakes, the sky is the limit literally – you could use this chocolaty colour as an accent or for the entire cake. Brides with fair skin tones could consider nails and lips in lighter shades of Marsala – too dark and the effect could be ruined. Wedding guests and bridesmaids can use Marsala coloured dresses or accessories like clutches and shoes. Apart from the combos suggested by Pantone, you could pair mustard or even jewel tones like emerald, ruby or turquoise with this fantastic colour.
