Planning Your Wedding? It’s OK To Be Stressed!

Yes, you read the title right! It’s perfectly okay to feel anxious, excited, nervous and overwhelmed all at the same time when it comes to your wedding planning, especially in the weeks leading up to the Big Day. We’ve some useful tips to help you get on top of things in case you are feeling a little bit overwhelmed!

Take your daily newsfeed with a pinch of salt

It’s sometimes easy to believe that other brides and celebrities look like they wake up with perfectly coiffed hair, makeup intact and not a crease on their clothes. But don’t believe everything you see on social media. No one is going to publish their pictures on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook looking anything less than great – same applies to their wedding planning talk. Not every day is going to be rosy so take it with a pinch of salt.

Look at the big picture

When you started your wedding planning, you probably went over all the little details with a magnifying glass. After all, this is one day when want everything to go exactly the way you planned it. But guess what? Your guests might not even notice all the minute details you meticulously planned. So don’t worry about coordinating every single element, or having the centrepieces perfectly aligned and so on. What your guests will remember is the delicious food you served, the brilliant songs they danced to and most importantly the fun they had at your wedding. Focus on the bigger details like catering, entertainment, photography, your honeymoon and of course, on the two of you.

Talk to your fiancé(e)

Everyone has their own coping mechanism to deal with stress – some brides believe in retail therapy; others believe in hitting the gym while others just want to be by themselves. We recommend talking to the person you’re going to be spending the rest of your life with. This is one day that will be special to you both, so share whatever it is that may be bothering you, and we’re sure you’re going to feel so much better. Go for a quiet meal, on a day trip away from all the wedding planning mayhem or even just spend some time together chatting about things that don’t involve the Big Day. You’ll feel energized to take on absolutely everything with some much needed space.

Recheck your wedding checklist

If you feel like you’re unsure where you stand when it comes to wedding planning, simply go back and revisit your wedding checklist. You can probably tick off some items on the list that are done and dusted, and you might realize that some of them are no longer needed at all. Some of them can even be delegated to family or friends. At the end of this exercise, you’ll have a much clearer idea of how the planning is going instead of feeling a little bit lost.

Remember to have fun

Do you remember the excitement you felt when you got engaged and how you were all gung-ho about planning your wedding? If you’ve lost that feeling, ask yourself if you have forgotten to have fun while you’re planning? If you feel you’re taking on too much alone, see who can help you – your other half, your maid of honor or your family. Also, remember to have some me time. Every bride needs a breather and you’re no different. If that translates into a quick trip to the spa, by all means schedule a session or indulge in your favorite pastime.

All brides stress and it’s totally OK

If you think there are brides out there that haven’t a wedding planning care in the world then you’re wrong. Even with a dedicated planner, most brides will worry about something at some stage. After all, it’s not every day you’re going to be pulling off something of this magnitude. Eloping may look like a safer option sometimes but you can easily get through this and you will be amazed at all that you accomplished once the day is over!
