We were lucky enough to sit down with the famed, RJ Priti Malik from Virgin Radio who kindly agreed to discuss her post-wedding cocktail dinner event held at the JW Marriott Hotel Dubai…
What wedding function did you have at JW Marriott Hotel Dubai?
Priti: I had my cocktail reception at the JW Marriott Dubai on 26 August 2014; traditionally this is the informal wedding function where the extended families and close friends from the bride and groom’s side meet and get to know each other
Which venue at JW Marriott Hotel Dubai was your cocktail reception function and why was that the venue of choice?
Priti: This function was held at the Town Square in JW Marriott Hotel Dubai which is a large courtyard-style space that easily accommodated around 250 guests of our guests. This venue stood out to me out as it has a grand dome see-through ceiling which gives the venue an outdoor feel. Moreover, since the occasion happened in August, when it is still hot outside, this indoor venue with air-conditioning was more suitable and comfortable for our guests without losing that alfresco charm. On top of all this the Hotel is close to the Dubai International Airport super convenient for guests flying into Dubai from various destinations to attend our wedding; also, several of our wedding guests chose to book rooms at the hotel as the rate offered was very attractive
Food is the most memorable part of any Indian wedding function; what stood out for you?
Priti: Finger foods, pass-arounds, easy-to-eat light bites were what we wanted for our cocktail reception; and the culinary team ensured the food kept flowing in all through the function!
What stood out in terms of service at the cocktail reception?
Priti: The one thing no couple wants on their big day is…disaster, and especially when the couple is also the wedding planner! I was extremely happy with all aspects of the cocktail reception, there were no last minute surprises and everything went according to plan. The service was amazing, no complaints or problems. There were several meetings prior to the pre-wedding function and all the planning ensured the event was smooth!
Also, the hotel surprised us with a complimentary stay at the JW Royal Suite, a great 530 sqm in size featuring vintage interiors and even a private pool!
In 2017 alone, JW Marriott Hotel Dubai hosted over 160 weddings serving close to 44,000 guests.
