5 Of The Most Common Wedding Guest Complaints (And How To Avoid Them)

wedding guest complaints-how to avoid UAE weddings

Your wedding is very special for both of you. But your wedding ceremony and reception will be attended not just by the two of you, your guests are a big part of your day and it’s important that they have a good time as well. Tick off these common wedding guests’ gripes and prevent typical planning mistakes.

“I found the date so inconvenient.”
That’s the starting point – choosing a convenient date. While you can’t accommodate everybody’s schedules into your calendar, check with your family and close friends – the ones you really can’t do without on your wedding day. One way to ensure all those you really want there are available is to send a ‘Save the Date’. People can pencil the date in to their diary and it will give others time to change already made plans.

“I could barely eat more than a mouthful.”
Do a taste test of your menu, no matter how much you trust the caterer. Check that you’re happy with what’s going to be served up on the day and also check how the various items on the menu complement each other. You don’t want your guests to stop at the diner on their way home from your wedding.

“I was so bored…”
Is there too much of a time gap between various events like the wedding and the cocktails and the reception? Are the speeches and toasts really long? Is the band playing a select list of songs that only you and your group of friends are keen on? All this is likely to put off most of the guests. Show your guests a good time, to make it worth their time and efforts.

“I can’t believe you sat me next to…”
Check your venue, seating and other arrangements many times over. Are you seating people together who have sworn never to talk to each other again? Are you seating some of your more elderly guests next to giant speakers? Is there enough elbow room at the table? Do your guests need to trudge through mud and slush in their heels to get to the cocktail bar? If it’s a yes to these questions, then start shuffling up your table plans and think of ways to ensure your guests are a bit more comfortable.

“You didn’t even bother to say hello.”
Your guests have spent a lot of money, adjusted their schedules, and travelled all the way to your wedding so it can be nice to spend a minute saying hello, ask if the arrangements are okay, and thank them for coming all the way out for you. Nobody expects you to have the time for heart-to-hearts, but an acknowledgement of their presence will go a long way.
