8 Things You Need to Do After The Wedding

after the wedding-8 things to do after the wedding day

If you are still basking in that lovely honeymoon glow and are wondering what comes next after several hectic weeks of planning and fabulous times, don’t worry, there is some more fun to be had after the wedding as well. Here are a few things all brides can look forward to after the wedding…

1) Say thank you

Your family and friends will have taken time off to attend your wedding and bought you lovely gifts – show your appreciation by sending them thank you notes. There’s something timeless about sending hand written notes so put aside some time to do this if you can. If you don’t have a list of what your guests got you, send them a general heartfelt note thanking them for their presence at your Big Day.

2) Preserve your wedding memories

You’ve probably spent a great deal of time finding that perfect bridal gown. Whether you want to preserve it or hand it down to your kids or nieces, make sure to get it cleaned professionally and store it well too. If you want to save your wedding bouquet, try and preserve a part of it or ask your florist for options. You can also hold onto your custom made wedding topper if you had one.

3) Wedding paraphernalia

If you had gorgeous centerpieces specifically made for your wedding, or other wedding décor that you no longer have any use for, sell them or better yet, donate them to someone who can put them to good use. It’s a good way to de-clutter and at the same time, ensure that others benefit from it!

4) Share your wedding know-how

There’ll be several other brides who can benefit from your wedding experience – soon-to-be brides would love to hear what a newly wed has to say about what worked for her or didn’t, from who your florist was to where your dress and shoes came from, and which other people you worked with to have that dream wedding.

5) Review suppliers and vendors

Vendors have played a major part in making sure you had the wedding you always wanted and they would love to hear your positive feedback. It’s a great way to let other brides-to-be know about them as well. Review the ones that did a great job and talk about it by either leaving a comment on their website or Facebook page, send them an email of thanks or write a review on their weddingsonline profile. They’ll appreciate the gesture.

6) Tell others your love story

Share your love story as well as your wedding story and may be your wedding pictures too – our real wedding section is one of our most popular parts of the blog! You never know how many brides you may inspire. If you’ve been on your honeymoon, sharing your first-hand experience on forums or through reviews can help other brides choose their destination and give them a few ideas as well.

7) Take care of the legal work

If you’ve taken on your husband’s name, update all your official paperwork like banks accounts, utilities, your license, as well tax related stuff and insurance.

8) Create your wedding album

Despite living in the digital world, it’s great to be able to sit down and see your wedding pictures every once in a while and show them off to friends and family who visit you. So make sure you print pictures that you would like to be part of your wedding album or frame some of your favourites. These are lifelong keepsakes and worth spending time on.
