How to Avoid Common Bridesmaid Problems

Planning your Big Day is not easy – everyone has advice and everyone has an opinion. As a result, many brides and bridesmaids find themselves in situations ranging from uncomfortable to unconventional to out-of-control. Sometimes it’s the bride, sometimes it’s the bridesmaids, sometimes it’s simply the circumstances. Whatever the case, use the following tips to help you overcome potential bridesmaid problems and difficulties so that everything can run smoothly and you can truly enjoy your special day!

Pay where possible

The most common issue faced by brides and bridesmaids is about money. Bridesmaids are expected to pay for their dresses and even host a bachelorette party. As a bride, you can step in where needed, be clear about your requirements and, yes, pay where possible.

Ensure their comfort

The number two conflict brides and bridesmaids encounter is the dresses. Thankfully, bridesmaid dresses have evolved over the years and there are lots of gorgeous styles that are flattering and that can be worn over and over again. Typical bridesmaid dresses cost anywhere from AED 250 to AED 1500. Make sure the dresses are comfortable for your girls – don’t put them in something you wouldn’t dream of wearing yourself.

Set clear expectations

Make sure your bridesmaids know what you expect from them. Have a think about where and when you need their involvement and have a chat with them about it to see if it works for everyone.

Don’t be overly demanding

Remember that your girls also have a life of their own beyond your wedding planning so do keep this in mind.

Show them you appreciate them

Don’t forget to thank them! Make sure you do little things for them to show them just how much you appreciate their help from a cute card when you’re popping the question to a little gift to say thank you for being by your side!

Organize a bridesmaid survival kit

Just like you have a bridal emergency kit for the wedding day, you can also make a bridesmaid survival kit with the likes of aspirin, band-aids, nasal spray, medical tape, nail polish, smelling salts, hair spray, mints, tampons, liners, bobby pins, safety pins, nail polish, lipstick, hair pins, glue for broken shoes and so on. They’ll really appreciate these little gestures and it will give you all a bit of a giggle.

Place yourself in their shoes

You might get to be a bridesmaid in the near future at of your bridesmaid’s weddings so remember, don’t ask them to do something you wouldn’t.
