It’s no secret that all brides want to look regal on their wedding day and steal the show effortlessly. Although red has traditionally been the preferred shade for brides to wear on D-day irrespective of where they are from, today’s modern bride wants to wear a saree or a lehenga that is a remarkable fashion statement in itself. Needless to say, designers and established bridal wear houses welcome the slow yet steady change in the tastes of today’s Indian bride.

So, if you are planning to tie the knot soon, which colour do you plan to choose for your wedding saree? We give you a peek at various shades and trends that can be spotted on Indian brides these days:

Red: Red is considered a sacred colour and symbolises values and customs as well. If you have a fair skin tone, deep shades like maroon and brick will look gorgeous on you. Brides-to-be with a dusky complexion will look radiant in brighter shades that will enable you to stand apart from the crowd easily. However, if you do pick a saree, choose one with embellishments or one that has a rich pallu. Lehengas with a contrasting choli or skirt with specks of red will also look lovely.

Pink: There is the right shade of pink for every Indian bride and if you would like to look both dainty and feminine on your wedding day, pink is a great choice to go with. Shades such as peach and coral will go well with fair skin tones whereas darker shades like fuchsia will look great on dusky skin. We suggest opting for bright contrasts such as peach and royal blue or fuchsia and cream to create a more striking appearance.

Gold: Gold and champagne shades are currently the hot trend because they look oh-so-elegant. No doubt, these are great wedding wear shades for an Indian bride who prefers a toned down look to a more colourful one. The best part is that any bride can wear these shades and look radiant in it irrespective of their skin colour. Moreover, Indian brides who want to show off their sparklers and heavy jewellery would do well to go with this shade because it helps to create the right impression without becoming gaudy. We think it works even better for parties and receptions held at night vs day time functions.
