Tips For a Successful Beach Wedding

Planning a beach wedding is so much fun and yet there’s so much that can go wrong if the planning isn’t right. In the sequel to our first article on planning a successful beach wedding, we’ve three more tips you need to keep in mind while talking to your wedding planner…

Go with a beach theme – You have such a gorgeous backdrop as the setting, so why not go all out and choose a beach theme for the décor and favours as well? Take inspiration from the elements all around you like the seashells, sand and starfish. Floating candles in fish-bowl vases or miniature sand-art pieces will keep your beach theme alive and are a sturdier alternative to flowers and will withstand the wind later in the evening. For favours, give guests a photo-frame decorated with shells, a set of aqua scented candles, or even a special thank you note in a sealed bottle filled with sand. There are so many ways to get those creative juices flowing while working on a beach theme.

Prepare for Nasty Weather – You imagine that everybody is going to enjoy a nice pleasant day at the beach and then suddenly temperatures soar – temperatures are tipped to touch 42 degrees towards the end of the month so it’s best to be prepared! Plan ahead and have a few basics on standby to keep guests comfortable – consider putting colourful beach umbrellas in the guest seating area so that your visitors stay cool throughout the ceremony. Or, you could even set up a sheer cloth canopy which will look both stylish and will shade guests from the sun. Make sure you have a few tents ready and waiting to relieve guests from the stifling heat or sandstorms or even consider booking an indoor venue like a reception hall or a restaurant nearby just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Stay Cool & Practical There are so many cute ways to make your guests feel at home at a beach wedding – we love the idea of welcome kits for your guests. Pack them with all the essentials that they’ll need for your wedding from sunglasses and fans to sunscreen and insect repellent. This way your guests won’t have to stress about a forgotten lotion! Or if you don’t want to do individual packs, you could have baskets of essentials at the ceremony or reception so guests can pick up whatever they need. Flip-flops and a steady supply of chilled drinks are a must for your list as well.

Yes, there are plenty of little things that could go wrong with a beach wedding but that’s an unspoken fact of indoor weddings too. Remember that all your near and dear ones have come together to celebrate a special occasion with you and that’s all that really matters!
