Wedding Dresses | Top tips of where (and where not) to buy!

Nowadays brides have so many options when looking to buy that dream dress. From the time-honoured bridal boutique, to a tailor-made gown, to the ever increasing trend of ordering your wedding dress online. We’d totally recommend looking for inspiration online and here at weddingsonline we love, love, love having a peek at the latest wedding dress trends! It’s also great to take inspiration from other beautiful real brides. But I’m sure we’ve all heard horror stories about ordering that ‘100% silk’ dress only to find out on delivery it’s ‘100% nylon’! So we’d warn against buying your dress online without a lot of research into the company you are buying from. It may seem like an attractive idea and can be more cost effective, but there are a number of pitfalls!

We catch up with Diala from The Bridal Showroom for her advice on buying that to die for dress!

“It’s is extremely important to buy your wedding gowns from reputable Bridal Boutiques because it’s your big day. It’s not only about the dress but also about the experience and the after services care. One of the most important part of purchasing a wedding gown is the after sale service – your fittings. You want to be at peace knowing that the dress will be altered to fit you like a glove on The Day.

You also want to ensure that the stores are official retailers to the brands you buy in case you want to order your gown or want especially modifications they can get it for you exactly the way you want it. You can visit the brands website and most of them have official retailers tab where they list all the stores which carry their gowns.”

“Buying it from the city you live in would be so much easier – you can go for as many fittings as you want and you won’t have to spend money on flight tickets and worrying whether the dress will fit on the day.”

“There is so much awareness with bridal stores to inform our brides about the possible pitfalls of buying gowns online. There are seminars during our buying trips to raise awareness about counterfeit, especially online. Most Bridal brands DO NOT sell online. There are so many websites who use designers images and copy their designs. The sad part they try to copy the designs -the quality, fit and design is extremely poor.”

“They use very cheap fabrics and the fits are not right and obviously the design has nothing to do with the image that was sold to clients. There is of course no refunds or exchange. The bride ends up spending double her budget because she now has to search for a wedding dress last minute. Which no one wants to do so close to their wedding day. Please be aware of where you buy your wedding dress from. You don’t want to mess it up for The Day! “

“It’s The Day and you want to look fabulous. We all want to save money but please do not cut corners when shopping for your wedding dress! You are the center of attention and you want to look and feel amazing! You don’t want to regret it. We meet so many brides who have tried to spend less on their gown but getting them from unknown stores or online and it is very heartbreaking to see them walk into our store and really need help to find a gown a few weeks before their wedding. We say no to Wedding Dress regret!!! !
