Theresa's Tips | Making your Aisle Walk with your Father Truly Memorable

As we celebrate Fathers Day this month, I thought it would be a great idea to write a blog with some fresh ideas for all our brides-to-be, who are walking down the aisle with their dad.

For most dads, his beautiful daughter will always be his little girl or his little princess, no matter what…it’s a dad thing, believe me! As a wedding celebrant I have seen so many dads and daughters coming down the aisle. Most of the time it’s almost a solemn moment when the two of them walk down the aisle: The dad serious, often with tears in his eyes, the bride shining and radiant, and the groom awestruck seeing his gorgeous bride!

So, I would like to mix things up a bit, as a wedding is after all a celebration of love, meaning it’s a fabulous, joyful, happy occasion! Let’s modernize the tradition, do something different, and have fun with it all…are you ready for something new? Well then, read on darlings, I have 3 fabulous ideas for you to get your imagination going!

Music to set the scene: What about a fabulous piece of music that announces the arrival of the dad? Now everyone knows the show is on the road! Bride joins her dad, and they walk down the aisle, everyone clapping and cheering them on, what an entrance!

Dancing for joy: Why not have bride and father of the bride do a little choreographed number down the aisle, that will delight everyone and get them totally in the celebration mood?

Top of the aisle greeting: How about dad waits in the front till the bride arrives, then he walks up to meet her, hands her the bouquet, and then they joyfully come down the aisle together. Poignant yet joyful.

Having said all that, the most important thing is to have fun with your dad walking down the aisle! Be creative, make your entrance unforgettable, and let your imagination run wild! And for the bride whose dad is not around, do the same with your mom or whoever you choose to walk you down the aisle. Why not? After all, this is your day and should definitely be your way!
