Our Story
We met… In Abu Dhabi
Our proposal… I was living and working in New Zealand at the time while Fares was in Abu Dhabi. As a flight attendant, I was working on a flight to Australia and back. Having just completed the first sector which was non-eventful apart from funnily enough helping a gentleman look for his lost wedding ring (which was found thank goodness). We had just started boarding the flight back to Auckland when I was asked to come help at the boarding door.
I get to the door and that’s when I look up and see Fares standing there (All on film – ground staff were filming). Shocked I just burst into tears with happiness to see him, little did I know that he was actually about to get down on one knee! He had made a long journey from Abu Dhabi, to Singapore, to Brisbane and then finally caught my flight from Sydney to surprise me. Luckily I said yes….It would have been an awkward flight back if I had said no!
What we wore
My dress… Contessa Dubai
My hair and make up… Hair Mia from Glamour Salon. Make up Rudy from Allure Beauty both in Abu Dhabi
His suit... Tom Ford
Our Wedding
Our wedding theme/colours… Romantic Garden with beautiful maroons, reds, pale pink, gold and greens.
Our menu… International cuisine
We chose our photographer because… We found Lizelle Goussard on social media/internet and her photography work was exactly what we were looking for. We had an engagement shoot with her and absolutely loved the photos!
We chose our wedding coordinator because… We had seen Mennat’s work in real life and knew that we wanted her expertise and talent to help us create our dream wedding day – along with the amazing help of her team of fairies! Mennat and her team from Cloud 9 were with us the whole day and were flawless.
The Venue
We chose our venue because… Saadiyat Beach Club offers a beautiful outdoor area on the lawn beside the beach, and a big plus was that we could also keep dancing to the early hours of the morning!
Our honeymoon… After organising a wedding all you want to do is relax and do nothing, and that we did – in the Maldives!
My favourite part of the wedding day… The Zeffeh, and it was very special having both families celebrating together.
My piece of advice for other brides… Don’t forget to actually step back and enjoy the wedding itself and the special moments. Do not bother stressing and wasting your energy worrying on things that may not be going to plan on the day! Have fun, and remember at the end of the day the most important part is that you have married the love of your life.
