An Elegant Affair at One and Only The Palm by Yes! exclusive weddings & events

We met… On 1st June 2012, at a brunch to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. We were introduced through a mutual friend. Vik made sure I sat next to him, we spent the entire afternoon chatting and really hit it off! We then went on our first date a week later at One and Only The Palm.

Our proposal… The proposal was very special indeed! It took place on 26th June, 2015 at the One and Only The Palm at the 101 Prive. There was a real build up to the big proposal so it was very unexpected! Vik had arranged a private dinner for 2 at the Prive at 101. The restaurant was elegantly decorated with red rose petals and hundreds of candles. The proposal itself was not just the big question, but Vik spoke about our journey and told me how lucky he felt to have me in his life. Vik was so confident I would say yes, all our friends and family were waiting after the proposal for our unforgettable engagement party!

My look… My dress was simple and elegant. I had seen it a couple of years ago on Instagram and saved the image thinking I will take inspiration from the dress for my own wedding gown… I managed to find the exact same dress online… just as I had imagined! The evening gown, which was red and gold was designed by Angeli K. Again I had imagined what it would look like and it was simply perfect! My hair and makeup were done by The Cure in Green Community. I had my hair up in a messy bun for the consular wedding and down with elegant waves over one shoulder for the evening reception.

We chose our wedding coordinator because… Elfi and Sylvia from Yes! exclusive weddings & events were very methodical and well organised. They took the pressure away from us and helped us to relax and enjoy our big day. They came up with some great ideas to add special touches to our special day, which were well remembered by all our guests!

We chose our photographer because… Umesh and Kam come from a very similar background as us, they are also a British Indian, so understood the various events and captured all those special moments and were recommended by our wedding coordinators.

We chose our venue because… It had to be One and Only The Palm… this is where we went on our first date and where Vik proposed! We shared many special memories at this venue.

Our wedding theme/colours… The colours for the consular wedding were White and Blue, and the evening reception was Gold and Red

Our menu… After several rounds of tasting, the menu had to be just prefect for our special day! Meticulously picked by Vik, with beverages paired to each course, the menu was a big hit with our guests! It was a contemporary Indian theme, in keeping with the entire reception.

My favourite part of the wedding day… Our entrance – what a warm and loving welcome from all our guests!

My piece of advice for other brides… We all want our special day to be perfect in every possible way but just relax and enjoy the special day… it passes so quickly!
