Vanila Wedding Boutique have searched the ‘four corners’ to hand-pick the most amazing mix of sought-after dresses from some of the most talented designers in the world, to ensure that every bride can wear a wedding dress that reflects her own sense of personal style.
We were lucky enough to talk 2018 wedding dress trends with Katerina, from the award-winning Vanila Wedding Boutique who won their 2nd Bride Award – two years in a row!
1. What can brides expect to see from your 2018 collection?
Our collection at Vanila Wedding Boutique in Dubai and brand variety has been expanding from the middle of last year, now we have a lot to choose from, as new arrivals come into the boutique almost every two weeks. We have exclusive brands that we are very proud to be representing in the Middle East and especially UAE, such as Helen Miller Bridal, Casablanca Bridal, the Spanish designer house hand-made in Barcelona – Jesus Peiro and the Turkish Dovita Bridal. As you know very well, we carry only European style brands and we are doing our best to cater for the majority of tastes and budgets.
2. What are your trend predictions for bridal fashion in 2018 and beyond?
To be very honest, there are no predictions, since all the 2018 collections were presented to us and the public in Spring 2017, so based on that we expect a lot of dresses made of Cremona, as the fabric is rapidly coming back into trend combined with other patterns and materials. Most of the designers will keep on presenting the long or ¾ lace sleeves with transparent nets, the lace tattoo trend is still ongoing and won’t fade away in the upcoming few years, especially on the back designs.
Most probably high-necks and lace tops will be popular as well as a come back from different celebrity weddings of 2016 and 2017. And capes – something to think about as a trendy accessory to a mermaid style wedding dress.
The main two tendencies that are happening now on the bridal industry arena is the combination of sexy and sheer elements like low open backs, low cleavages, front splits, sheer tops, completely transparent parts of the dress with the opposite designs like long sleeves, high-necks and so much more. And the second tendency is that wedding dresses tend to become lighter in general.
3. What’s your favourite 2018 wedding dress trend?
I personally love the floral print elements this year. And I also extremely favour the beige or dark ivory shades of the dresses as it gives a bit of a trendier effect and softer transition to tanned or darker skin tones. For example, Helen Miller 2018 collection very well represents these new patterns and colours as well.
4. What about headpieces and veils. Is there anything new there?
The designers try now to keep up with the styles of the veils as well according to the dresses, repeating the patterns, the lace and even colours. Some brands favour combinations of materials or even non-ivory colours: lace patterns with satin ribbons and blush pink or golden veils. Some create fantastic flower crowns decorated with tiny tulle resembling the veil. Jesus Peiro is one of the brands known for such unusual creations. Have a look at these amazing pieces.
5. What advice do you have for brides buying gowns for their wedding?
There is always a lot of pieces of advice that can be given to brides, that is why we tend to have a 1.5 hour session in the boutique with our professional stylists, who will help the bride create her own bridal look according to all requests and within her budget limits and will, of course, advise on many other things. That is why we always tend to ask our brides to make appointments, as every single detail should be taken care of in a private meeting.
6. Who’s your favourite celebrity bride, and why?
My favourite bride celebrity would probably be Audrey Hepburn, she had very delicate taste and her wedding dress (actually dresses, to be precise), were all masterpieces of those times but definitely for a lifetime. They were all a pure celebration of femininity: minimal, elegant and a little bit playful.
7. Will you have any special promotions in this year?
