We caught up with Cindy from Beauty By Edge for some insight on 2018 hair trends…
What sort of services does your salon provide?
We are the “Hair Extension Specialists” in Dubai! That said we provide hair salon services that are provided by all top Salons in Dubai.
We pride ourselves on our treatments that not only prepare ones’ hair for the different seasons of the year and the effects they have on our Hair but also rejuvenate the hair and scalp to fight against unnecessary hair loss.
We also have a rehydrating treatment that prepares your hair, in advance, for big occasions! Perfect for brides-to-be to make sure they get the perfect look for their big day.
We specialize in all types of hair extensions; from Clip-in to semi-permanent Keratin Bonds and Tape extensions in both synthetic and natural hair so that every girl can afford full and long hair!
Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you started Beauty by Edge?
When we came from Ireland I needed to get my extensions done and when we started to do our research as to where best to go. It was not easy and it was very expensive compared to Europe.
Then a friend was sick and needed a medical wig. We found it very difficult to find and when we did, it was impersonal in the establishments we went to. More and more we realized there was a gap in Dubai for us to create a brand that caters and cares in this sector of the service industry.
In Dubai, location is KEY… This was a big challenge because in Dubai no one (mall landlords) like to take a risk with a new brand in their tenant mix. We were lucky to get the ear of the Mall Manager of Mercato Mall (Debbie Russo). Debbie loved the idea and found us a location on the ground floor of the mall next to Spinneys & side entrance of the mall.
Tell us what are some trending bridal hairstyles right now? What are some of your favourite trends that we can expect to see more of in 2018? Have you got a signature service you provide?
Big but casual hair is in! This for most women means they need a “little” help with hair extensions! We, the public have always looked to celebrities for “what’s Trending”. These days “celebrities” can be Instagram influencers but the days of every girl wanting Rachel from the TV show Friends have not completely disappeared. The TV series Game Of Thrones has had an impact on hairstyles across continents and all the actress are wearing hair extensions and hair jewellery! So 2018 it is less up styles and more lose plaits, interwoven extensions and a lot of big and small casual curls.
How can our brides benefit from hiring you as their official bridal hairstylist/beauty therapist?
The benefit of using Beauty By EDGE starts from when we first meet the client. We spend a lot of time with the consultation with all our Salon staff. We make suggestions on treatments to prepare the Bride hair for the perfect look.
We pick makeup looks that are “on point” -trending but nothing extreme that will make a bride look back at photos in years to come with style-regret
Every woman is unique so every bride has their own individual look that we respect and reflect with the finished look.
The bride normally has a trail to make sure it is the look she wants and we deduct this cost from the final price if she chooses to use Beauty By Edge.
We have a fantastic mix of stylists working with us, coming from different cultures. This means we can cater for all types of weddings. The most common we do are, western, local, and Indian weddings.
How far in advance should a bride-to-be start planning her beauty regime & look for the big day? What about my bridesmaids?
As regards make-up lasting, the correct formula is to first prep the skin but before all of that, we highly recommend making sure the skin is hydrated, this all starts about four months in advance. One facial a month is best and after first month any problems will come to the top and can be eliminated. After that, it is simple cleansing and toning each day twice a day and never ever use a night cream only your daily moisture and small amount tiny of eye cream.
Once the Bride has stuck to this routine her skin will be perfect to accept the primers foundation, and contouring. The most important part of the make-up is the contouring. It can totally shape one face to perfection. We use MAC, Inglot, Makeup forever and Ten Image products. It is all about timing, the make-up artist needs time to build the look that is perfect and will last all day, with a few hints for the Maid of Honor to assist her with during the day. We defiantly promote semi-permanent individual eyelashes no need for mascara very important for the crying happy tears during the day.
We love looking after the Bridesmaids, it is so much fun we make it a fun experience like a girls sleepover. This is also something we discuss with the bride from the start; what look she wants for her bridesmaids. Normally they do not need a trail but we are happy to do it. Bridesmaids want the latest with the length being very important. This is where we are the experts (hair extensions) choosing clip-ins that do not look like extensions all the while achieving the look they need. Most brides now chose to buy their bridesmaids extensions as a present. Safe to say this makes the bridesmaids extremely happy and out Beauty By EDGE clip-in extensions are long lasting reusable “hero” accessories, every women needs!
