The couple: Vidhi Lalchand & Zachary Latif
Length of engagement: 4 Years | Wedding date: 17-21 December 2016
Wedding Venue: Fairmont, Ajman
Photographer: Melrish | Wedding Planners: Red Velvet
We Met: We were both working in finance in London and I asked her out for a coffee when she had left the job for a new one.
Our Engagement: It was an extremely sentimental and emotive affair that actually took place in India in December 2012 (we got married in December 2016 so it was a 4yr engagement!).
Our wedding themes: We choose Rose & Pink for our Hindu and Baha’i ceremonies; Gold for the Mehfil while the Henna night had a dazzling midnight blue and lavender theme.
My hair & make-up: Make-up was done by the renowned Jesse Tabla & the hairstylist Sonny Mago; the theme they went for was “Mughal Princess.”
My outfits: Were Designed by Deepika Anand/Studio 8, Nitika Gujral and Label R by Raina Lalwani
We choose our venue: We loved the quiet seclusion of the Fairmont Ajman, along with the fantastic rooms and luxurious intimacy that was afforded to all guests and wedding party. We couldn’t be happier with the venue and hotel as it was in itself such a powerful presence in the wedding; the guests fell in love with the property as well.
Our menu: Was an Indo-Persian fare, which took months to decide and multiple tasting sessions (including overnight ones). Every day had a unique twist with Mughal Lunch as the welcome event while the Henna had a Mediterranean theme. The next day Sindhi food for the Pooja Lunch and Bombay/South Indian street food for Phera evening snack. In the evening there was an Arabic theme for the Sangeet Mehfil. The Carnival Lunch had Italian and International options while the Reception Dinner was a sumptuous Royal Indo-Persian spread consisting of Ghormeh Sabzi, Zereshk Polo & Sholeh Zard (there was strong Persian representation to pay tribute to the Groom’s Persian heritage).
Our Favourite thing about our wedding: We loved the fact that our friends and family had come from all over the world to share with us in our special day. We adored the ceremonies and even though it took place over 4 days and 4 nights, it was an absolute whirlwind.
Tips for future brides & grooms: Definitely get a wedding planner; it’s probably the most important thing after the Venue.
The best thing we’ve done together: We’ve travelled to lots of different continents together and I think we’re most proud of managing to build a solid life together. Also two weeks after our wedding, we adopted our beautiful puppy Lévy, who we both love so much (he was part of our dog fund!).
Our honeymoon: We had a mini-moon in Dubai after the wedding and we’re looking forward to our honeymoon tour of USA’s West Coast in the summer.
The most exciting thing we’re looking forward to as a married couple: Growing old together and sharing our lives in a meaningful way with those that matter to us.
