Royal Weddings by Sara J is an event planning company founded by Interior Architect Sara J. AlSalman in Bahrain in 2014. With an international clientele from the GCC, Europe, & Asia, in 2020 Royal Weddings by Sara J. successfully expanded to Dubai, focusing on both local and destination events.
Sara believes that her “architecture and design background gives an advantage in examining the space and producing spatial design with a creative edge”, and looking at her work we’d have to agree!
Today we hear more from Sara on why she loves what she does, and also take a look at her latest wedding creation which took place last month at Al Habtoor Polo Resort, Dubai…
How long have you been a wedding planner and what do you love most about what you do?
Almost nine years now! Essentially, what I love most is that we are celebrating love and creating an everlasting memory in honour of this beautiful commitment the couple makes to one another. It brings so much joy to our hearts seeing the happiness on the couple’s faces and it’s an honour and a responsibility we take very seriously, to be a part of such a special day.
What made you opt for this colour palette and theme for this wedding?
The bride requested an elegant and timeless colour palette with some teal and boho touches. We knew the combination of white and greens would be perfect with the setting, then added some pampas as a homage to the boho vibe without being too rustic. Additionally, we wanted to create a traditional ceremonial arch yet make it stand out at the same time, so we decided to create a whimsical asymmetrical arch, giving this classical symbol a unique and memorable design.
What were your favourite aspects of this wedding?
The intimate nature allowed us to experience the parents’ reaction to the couple, the interactions of the guests, it all felt cosy and romantic simultaneously.
How was this wedding different from the others you’ve worked on?
We have planned so many weddings on different scales, for this wedding in particular it was finding the best suitable date for the couple. As this was both a destination and intimate wedding, we had to find a venue and date suitable to all attending guests and the couple.
The intimate nature of the event meant that each guest’s attendance was highly essential. We did have to postpone the event from the end of 2022 to Feb 2023 to guarantee that all guests would be able to travel to Dubai for the event.
How do you usually work with couples planning their weddings?
We provide services based on the couple’s requirements. For instance, in some cases the couple already has a booked venue and we would be in charge of the design and décor. In other instances, we would have to find the best suitable venue, provide hotel bookings for guests, photography, DJ and entertainment along with the design and décor, and more.
We make sure that we work closely with the couple to meet their needs and tailor our services to their specific requirements.
Which suppliers did you work with on this wedding?
Venue: Al Habtoor Polo Resort | Planning & Styling: Royal Weddings by Sara J. | Furniture Rentals: Party Social | Photography: Fables and Hues
