Working closely with their clients, they provide a stress-free and truly personalised service from design to printing, leaving you the time to focus on other aspects of your wedding planning.

With offices in London and Dubai, Vaishali Shah, owner and designer at Ananya Cards, is well positioned to know exactly what the wedding trends are across the major cities and across cultures, so we caught up with her to hear her wedding stationery trend predictions for 2023, and here’s what she shared with us…get those notebooks out!

  • Personalisation of Details: More and more we are seeing couples wanting to customise and hyper-personalise their stationery, and we are (always!) here for it. Incorporating important details of our couples’ personalities, histories, and family heritage is so important to us here at Ananya Cards, and thankfully is something that continues to trend. Couples are asking us to connect their venue choices, decor, and wedding day styling with the design of the invitations, so that every element tells a part of the story for their guests to unravel.

  • Monograms: We work with a lot of couples to design monograms that include their initials, family crests, or personal motifs. There are lots of creative ways to pay homage to different languages, alphabets, and cultures through a bespoke monogram, which we love. We’re seeing more and more couples want to create wedding “branding” in this way, and then elevate the wedding weekend by using their personal designs as details on their invitations, embroidered on napkins, on menus and signage, stamped on wax seals, as vinyl on the dance floor, and so much more.

  • Bespoke Patterns: Another trend for this year is couples wanting to have a completely personal and bespoke pattern designed for their wedding, which can be used to embellish stationery and signage, but also printed on the fabric of their furniture, the linen and napkins on the tables, or used as wallpaper for their décor. Similar to the use of personal monograms, this creates a seamless, cohesive, and luxurious aesthetic story – where the colours, textures, and motif all complement and echo one another. This can be particularly effective when decorating a marquee, where the blank canvas can be brought to life with patterned fabrics, backdrops, and large-scale installations.

  • Sustainability and Mindfulness: Sustainable and eco-conscious stationery remains top of mind for 2023 couples, and we love that this trend is here to stay. For many, these last few years have been an opportunity to refocus, reprioritise, and consider what really matters; and this is very much true within weddings too. Couples want their wedding stationery, like all their other wedding decisions, to be a true reflection of them and of the things they are proud to spend money on. They want to know the small businesses they are investing in, understand and reduce the carbon footprint they leave behind, and find creative ways to celebrate in a way that is sophisticated and still authentic and intentional.

  • Multiple-day Destination Weddings: With travel back on track, more and more couples are daydreaming of taking all their favourite people to gorgeous international destinations. Choosing to host weddings in another country is a wonderful way to deepen the shared experience with your guests by having more days together, more opportunities for creating memories, and a more unique celebration too. It’s also an endless source of inspiration for your stationery, as you can draw on the country’s culture, mythology, cuisine, sights, sounds, and scents.

Having multiple celebrations, like a welcome dinner, music party, wedding day, and post-wedding brunch, also means you can play with additional wedding stationery elements – all tied together by a harmonious and complementary theme, but all with their own individual aesthetic identity. We are seeing couples have multiple days of celebrations in order to pay homage to different wedding traditions, and within that, also finding ways for their wedding stationery to reflect all the different facets of what makes up their family tree.

  • Signage: In addition to signage like welcome signs and orders of the day, couples are increasingly wanting more interesting and fun signs – like bar signs, quotes, creative table plans, unplugged ceremony signs, directional signs around the wedding venue (particularly impactful when you’ve taken exclusive use of a large hotel or resort), a wedding hashtag sign, and food and drink signs for grazing and dessert tables. Signs are a wonderful way to make the whole event feel more personal and welcoming, to make your guests feel informed and taken care of and also to create focal styling points – for example by having floral or furniture installations clustered near important signs.
