1. Pretty pastels and moody colours

Couples who don’t want to go for traditional white stationery can add a hint of colour to theirs. Pastels and blush tones are still really popular this year with subtle pink, sage, peach and turquoise being the top favourites. Pastel coloured invites are a perfect choice for summer weddings but if you’re having a fall bash, moody tones like dark navy, jewel hues (think emerald, amethyst or ruby red) and wine colours like plum, berry and rich purple are just perfect.

2. Special shapes

If you’re looking to get creative, custom made wedding invites in special shapes are an uber cool way of informing guests about your ceremony details. Bride Olfa (see image below) used Japanese fan shaped stationery for her garden wedding. Other popular shapes include wedding passports or boarding pass shaped invites, which would be perfect for couples who have travelled the world together or who met overseas.

3. Black is back

Black colored wedding invitations are being increasingly favoured by brides-to-be as a chic and elegant way to let guests know all their Big Day details. Black and gold or silver is an elegant pairing or you could opt for other lighter colours with contrasting prints.

4. Envelope liners

Envelope liners add tons of fun to the wedding stationery since it’s the first thing guests see when they open the invite. You can emboss important details like your wedding date, your names or even the city’s skyline where the wedding will be held on the liners if you’re looking to make it all the more personal!

5. Fun invites

How about literally taking away your guests’ breath? Send them a balloon invite which only reveals the ceremony details once they inflate the balloon. Other fun ideas include game-board shaped invites, film canister invites and even Viewmaster invitations!

6. Unexpected materials

Apart from paper, you can print your wedding details on fabrics, wood, acrylic or Plexiglass. Handkerchief invitations are another super popular choice and you can also use other unexpected materials like jute strings to spell out your names. Another fantastic idea we love – wrap a tea towel around your traditional invites so guests will have a wonderful keepsake of your wedding.
