How To Have An Eco-Friendly Wedding

Eco friendly weddings are the new mantra these days and many brides are proud to call themselves ‘green brides’ as well. So what exactly is an eco-friendly wedding? Think of it as an eco-chic wedding which is as good as a conventional one minus any unnecessary waste and expense. Plus going green has so many benefits for the environment as well. Here are a few ways in which you can have an eco-friendly wedding…

Let’s start with the invitations. There are plenty of sites which offer online wedding cards that are available in so many great designs and customisation options. You’ll find that these easy-to-mail cards are easy on your wedding budget too. If you would still prefer to go with a traditional wedding card, go for a brand that has been made using recycled waste paper or with synthetic materials. Opt for ink that has been created using vegetable dye or soy.

Many brides don’t think twice about splurging on a grand wedding gown but what to do with the dress afterwards? If you opt for a vintage bridal gown (it could be the one that your mother wore on her wedding day) you’ll be doing your part for the environment, another option is to go for a gown that can be worn afterwards (bridal separates are great for this) or you could make the decision to donate your gown after your big day is over. Either way, you’ll feel better for having done your bit for the environment!

Say no to grandiose floral arrangements and make the wedding venue look pretty simply by going with faux flowers that have been created from paper, cloth or even brooches borrowed from family members. You can create almost any floral design or arrangement you wish by using these materials and the best part is that they will last you for more than just day. For table decor, go for a fabulously earthy feel with a potted plant such as succulents which can be kept at home as well.

When it comes to serving the best food, don’t just hire the best caterer or chef in town. Think seriously about dishing up healthy wholesome food to your guests too. One of the ideal ways to serve organic food is to work with a restaurant or caterer that specialises in organic food and seasonal produce. You can bet that your guests will love eating fresh produce that’s pesticide free and which is high on nutrients.

Showing your appreciation to your guests for being a part of your wedding is important and there’s no better way to do that than by gifting them a potted plant or a packet of seeds which can be replanted at the office or at home. You could also opt for potpourri or toiletries like handcrafted natural soap or ayurvedic oils which are rejuvenating for both the mind and body.
